What remarkable power lies beneath the facade of the ordinary citizen?

What happens when we step outside the box in which we live?

What miracles occur when we simply volunteer?

How these questions are answered in the face of the most devastating act of the new century, the attack on the World Trade Center on the morning of September 11, 2001, is to meet The Renegade Volunteers in a new documentary: THE HEART OF STEEL.

THE HEART OF STEEL is the untold story that explores how impassioned individuals choose to break from their comfortable lives to help those in need and, in so doing, find themselves calling upon inner resources they never knew they had.

On the front line, and going where no civilian has ever gone, the very essence of their beings is challenged continually as they strive to accomplish what seems like an impossible set of tasks. Despite the figurative and literal roadblocks, they become more determined, uncovering their own hearts of steel.

Produced with The September 11th Families Association, THE HEART OF STEEL shatters the illusion behind the power of the "ordinary citizen" and redefines the remarkable impact they can have on the world we live in.

"The Heart of Steel" had its World Premiere at The Tribeca Film Festival.

Families and Survivors of the September 11th community, family, friends and festival audiences from around the world packed into the 912 seat Tribeca Performing Arts Center. Screening just a few blocks away from Ground Zero, this day reunited "The Renegade Volunteers."
The experience was unforgettable.

A very special thanks to Jane Rosenthal, Robert DeNiro and Craig Hatkoff.
